Auriculotherapy using Ear Seeds

auricular ear seeds acupuncture

Ear seeds are simple and non- invasive way to stimulate acupuncture points on the ear.

What are ear seeds?

Ear seeds, based on traditional Chinese medicine, are small seeds placed on specific ear points to help heal and support different parts of the body. Auriculotherapy, the practice of stimulating ear points, is used to treat and prevent issues like anxiety, insomnia, pain, nausea, mood, digestive and women's health problems. Unlike acupuncture needles, ear seeds stimulate without piercing the skin. The ear reflects the whole body’s health, making ear seed therapy effective. Most ear seeds come from Vaccaria seeds, attached to adhesive stickers for easy use.

AcuKITS® uses natural Vaccaria seeds on latex-free medical tape for safe and comfortable wear.

Benefits of ear seeds

Most studies currently being conducted demonstrate that ear seeds have a positive impact on a wide range of health conditions, including insomnia and pain, as well as several other ailments and various types of discomfort. The ear contains more than 120 acupressure points, each corresponding to different parts of the body. The ears have a very close and intricate relationship with the nervous system, which makes them a key area for therapeutic intervention. Additionally, some research shows that acupuncture or acupressure on the ear can effectively stimulate the meridians. According to traditional Chinese medicine, there are 12 primary meridians responsible for carrying vital energy, or Qi, throughout the entire body, helping to maintain balance and overall health.

Are ear seeds safe for children?

Ear seeds are safe and effective for use in children

Yes, auriculotherapy using ear seeds is a safe and effective option for children, as it is both gentle and non-invasive. However, it is crucial that an adult carefully applies and consistently monitors the ear seeds, since young children might be tempted to remove them or accidentally swallow them. For children, it is recommended that ear seeds be worn for shorter durations, typically around 1 to 2 days, to reduce the risk of skin irritation or any discomfort. Maintaining proper hygiene is also important: the ears should be thoroughly cleaned before applying the seeds, and ear seeds should never be used on broken, irritated, or sensitive skin to ensure safety and comfort throughout the treatment.
